Welcome, our lovely readers! We are pleased to present you with our blog concerned with exploring the important American news. Before we publish any of our articles though, we wanted to have a chance to introduce ourselves to you, so you know who’s behind the screen.

This is why we decided to dedicate this section of our website to us. Find out who we are, how we met, and why we decided to create this blog considering the wide range of news outlets you can find online. We hope you can find a little bit of yourself in us and that you share our aspirations.

How We Met

You might be surprised to find out that we all met online. We are not childhood friends or college roommates; we were literally just a bunch of strangers on the Internet who happened to be at the right place at the right time.

This right place was a private Facebook group with thousands of members with the sole purpose of debating. A person would post a topic, wait for it to be approved, and then debate the people in the comment section.

Despite it being a really fun concept, you can imagine the big fights that could arise from some controversial opinions and you can also imagine that most of the approved posts contained somewhat controversial opinions.

As we were all very active in this group, we began noticing each other. True, the group was massive, but after some time you begin to remember people, especially the regular posters. We realized that we had a lot in common, so one friend request followed another one and we all ended up friend-ing each other.

After that, we just made our own chat where we would debate and simply comment on the current events. We are all Americans, but unfortunately, we are not from the same state; we are not even from the same part of the country.

Nevertheless, two years after we met each other online, we arranged to meet in the Big Apple and we were very excited. We thought it would be awkward; it was anything but awkward. We became even closer and we decided to set up such meetings once a year.

Why We Made This Blog

We forgot to mention that we met in 2016 when our country experienced political division that was “never seen before”. This, however, is untrue. No matter what you think or how you feel, history tells us that the United States has been much more polarized before.

Anyone remember the Civil War? Even in modern times, our country has seen more division; some of us are just too young to remember or weren’t even born there.

On the other hand, it is true that media outlets have strayed away from their overall neutrality that they had been trying to establish for decades. Nowadays, most of the mainstream media exhibits obvious biases to the left or right of the political spectrum.

What’s more, sociological studies continue to show that the people’s trust in the media is only decreasing. A barrage of fake news hides behind every corner and there have been more misinformation campaigns that we can count, not only in America, but all around the world.

To say we are fed up with this would be an understatement. We wish things were simpler, we wish our news were informative, rather than filled with the biases of someone spouting their personal and political beliefs.

You know how people say “if you don’t like X, make your own”, so after some deliberation, we decided to do just that. This news blog would be the Switzerland of news reporting.

If you’re like us and you don’t care what some journalist thinks of a specific current event, because you just want to find information about this event, then visit our blog. We aim to exclude all biases from our reporting, but if you feel like you can still find some, please tell us, so we can edit them out.
